The lovely folks at Godiva invited me and my mum down to sample their indulgent Chocolate Afternoon Tea at their Meadowhall Cafe. Those of you unfamiliar with Godiva, it’s a luxurious Belgian chocolate company, founded in Brussels in 1926 and they have just opened their first cafe in the UK in Sheffield’s Meadowhall shopping centre.
Whilst we waited for our tea to be prepared the store manager brought us the full collection of Godiva’s Pop Mini Eggs to try. I dived straight in for the dark chocolate and raspberry combo, whilst my mum made her way through their classic pralines. To accompany the food, you are allowed to sample two different tea’s, per Afternoon Tea. I opted for their berry infusion and my mum, the English breakfast tea.
Practically drooling over the table by the time the Afternoon Tea arrived we couldn’t wait to dig into our first course, these adorable mini sandwiches – a Godiva twist on the classic flavours (Egg mayo, salmon & cream cheese, cucumber and cheese & pickle). The small, colourful bread rolls make the sandwiches look as great as they tasted.
Next up, the fondue course. You can choose from white, milk and dark fondue to accompany your dipping selection. The miniture chocolate chip scones and tropical marshmallow cubes were my favourite. I’ll definitely be going back for a cheeky fondue treat very soon.
The final course was these adorable little mousse balls on top of a bed of shortbread, each was a different flavoured mousse and filling. After the indulgence of the fondue, the fruit filled mousse (centre) was a nice and refreshing note to end on.
We were fortunate enough to bring some treats home too, I couldn’t resist the adorable bunny and of course we stocked up on more of the Pop mini eggs. Also how cute is the spring packaging on the box of chocolates?!
