I recently had a lovely long weekend staying with my boyfriend in Southampton and we decided to have a few little adventures seeing as England’s attempt at Summer was drawing to an end.
For our first outing, we drove over to the New Forest to visit the Wildlife Park, it’s just a few minutes drive out of Southampton and at just £12 it’s an affordable way to spend half a day.
I’m not usually the biggest fan of creepy crawlies, but I loved trying to find all the different butterflies in the Tropical House.
The park is home to some very adorable critters, my favourite being the variety of otters. All the above photos were taken whilst some neighbour otters were being fed, hence how they watching the fish through the fence (they have nice, spacious enclosures to live in). The little guy above was next door to the Giant Otters and was squeaking for attention so loudly it melted my heart.
I can’t think of many places where I’ve seen a wolf before, so it was really cool to catch a glimpse of this pack coming so close and passing by.
Speaking of animals I haven’t seen before, this albino wallaby took me by surprise too!
Other creatures you can find at the park include bison, deer, birds of prey and badgers.
The teeny tiny harvest mice completely stole my heart.
We spent a couple of hours walking around the park, if you have children it could take a bit longer plus there’s a fun adventure play area too. For more information please click here.
