Chatsworth House in the Peak District is somewhere I’ve been fortunate to frequent visiting every since I can remember, although as a kids I was more interested in the huge adventure playground and getting lost in the hedge maze than anything else. Just a half hour drive away from Sheffield, the Duke and Duchess’ stunning home is a perfect day trip all year round. Anyway, back to the purpose of this blog… I’m not focussing too much on the house and garden’s itself today, but the House Style exhibition that’s been running the last few months. After a very busy summer I finally was able to spare a day to visit it with my friend Jen.
Included in the price of the house, this exhibition celebrates five centuries of fashion at Chatsworth. Click here for more information about the exhibition including links for tickets.
The decor of the house is a perfectly dramatic backdrop to many of the costumes.
I loved this room displaying the bridal gowns.
A Duchess’ dress for Queen Elizabeth II’s coronation which was originally worn to Queen Victoria’s coronation.
In love with these pieces from the Devonshire Fancy Dress Ball of 1897.
I want to wear this jazzy Christopher Kane number.
John Galiano for Christian Dior (ft a portrait of the Duchess Georgiana.
The dreamiest dinner party setting.
I know I said I wasn’t posting about the house, but I can’t resist sharing a couple of photos from this gloomy, but beautifully Autumnal day.
