Last week I ventured over to Leeds with my friend Grace to see how many of the annual Light Night exhibitions we could check out in under 2 hours (it was all very unplanned and last minute, next year now I know about this I will definitely be more organised). Light Night last for 2 evenings and features a number of installations scattered across Leeds city centre. We picked out a few of our favourite looking ones and made those our mission.
First up, Dark Water, Light Sky. Based on the dock you step onto a floating square platform with headphones on. There’s hundreds of strung lights above and around you which all dance in time to the song which plays through your headphones. Truly mesmerising, I wish we could’ve just stayed here all evening.
A quick trip to Park Square we found Apparatus Florius, another piece timed to music. If it was a bit warmer I’d have quite happily laid on the crowd and just look up and watch it for a while.
The Phoenix In The Stone was a short story about a phoenix flying across lands of different elements projected on to the Civic Hall in Millennium Square.
It was great to see so many people exploring the magical art evening. Thanks Leeds, I can’t wait to see more of what you have to offer next year.
