I’ve been wanting to pay the Sky Garden in London a visit for ages, and last weekend I finally got the chance. For those of you who aren’t familiar, it’s a green space with a cafe, bar and restaurant on the top of a skyscraper with 360 degree views of the capital. Oh, and it’s completely free.
Tickets are available every Monday for the following week, you just need to book your free timed slot to be allowed to garden.
When you arrive at the entrance for your time slot, you have to quickly do an airport style security check and then head up the super fast lift up 35 floors.
The views from the garden are incredible, it really does make you appreciate how high the Shard is too.
The old and the new.
I’d definitely pop back up here to see the view on a (hopefully) clear day and I can only imagine how dreamy sunset would be.
As far as the garden goes, it wasn’t quite what I expected. I was thinking something slightly more botanical, and well, more plants in general. But don’t let that put you off, it’s still beautiful up there.
If you don’t fancy a reservation at the formal restaurant there’s also a small bar and a cafe with seats overlooking the views.
I love how the top of the building is curved, when you’re underneath looking straight up it almost feels like it could fall on you.
Have you been up the Sky Garden or The Shard? Which is your favourite? I hope I can go up the Shard one day soon too.
